- Write a truthful summary of yourself to get enquires from people who can really make a good match with you. Don’t pretend you’re someone, you’re not!

- Be clear about how long you need to live in a share house and if you will need some flexibility. Short lets and letting on a Monday to Friday basis is possible so you don’t need to sign up to something that doesn’t really suit you.

- Remember that we’re all different and have different habits and life style. If you’re a party boy or girl and love to go out and come back
late regularly it might make sense to be honest about this, if your housemate is the opposite it could cause problems.
- Make sure you know the house share rules if you have to live with the landlord or if you’re living with other renters, it will lead to more comfortable house!
- Ensure that anything you’ll need in the room / house is there or can be arranged , e.g. TV aerial, wardrobe, broadband internet or cable / satellite TV
- Think about contents insurance – it might be a good idea, there are firms who offer share accommodation insurance products giving you greater protection
- Consider house size - bigger shares could include a large garden, more storage and outdoor facilities and sometimes might be cheaper. However think about how many people
you’ll actually be living with!
